Yes, it will be time consuming for you , especially the box since you need the parts first to get the box right .  ;D
And No , Uberti can not even keep up with me as it is , so it is actualy a concern of mine. I waitied over a year for this new gun to even be produced so I am buying as fast I can make money because some models won't always be made. Palmetto ARms stopped making the Whitney before I could buy one so I am screwed unless someone sells me one. So, it is a concern of mine in actuality .
So you buying a Colt only hinders my efforts to collect every gun in the world before I die  ;D

There's honesty for ya!

I like your idea about the box, Swordboy.  It sounds cool.

I can't help regarding multiple calibers, but if you went with (as an example) an 1860 (Pietta), you could pretty easily get:

3 barrel sizes   8" - 5 1/2" -  3 1/2" (or whatever the length of the little hideout version Cabellas sells)
a shoulder stock ('tho they ARE getting scarce and expensive when found)
extra C&B cylinders
a Kirst or R&D conversion cylinder
a new bunny  In case you decide to practice on a moving target.

There ya have it.

okay ... let me re-frase my question ..... can I stick a .36 barrel and cylinender in a .44 frame and have it shoot .36 with out it breaking the gun or having other adverse effects

Yes you can  :) !  I just played mix and match with a .36 cal cylinder and barrel from a Pietta US Marshals model on the frame from a .44 cal US Marshals model.  The arbor fit was a little tight; but it went on, cycled and timed right.  I also took the barrel and cylinder from a Blued Pietta 1860 Army and they also fit on the Marshal's .44 frame & vice versa.

I didn't try this with my Ubertis, or my '61 Navies; but I'm fairly certain the results would be the same.

Army & Navy frames by the same manufacturer are identical except for the rebate cut on the Army frame.
