Ignorant Limey here again!
I've made my first holster(which I will post when I work out how to do it) for my Walker.
My question is:- what is this 8-10 ounce weight you keep mentioning, is it the thickness of the leather or a size or what?
Is it how much a square foot weighs? It's driving me crazy!!
I have a source for hides close by but this weight thing is beginning to make me wonder if I'm after the correct stuff.

Help please, UKshooter.

It does mean the weight, but each ounce also equates to approx 1/64 th of an inch thick.
So 8 oz is 1/8" thick or approx 3mm.

Hope that helps.

Yes, it is the weight of 1 sq foot of leather, but obviously it is just a guide.  Generally, 1oz is equal to 1/64th of an inch in thickness.

UK,

As the others have mentioned it is by weight per square foot.  8/9 oz is approx. 1/8" to 9/64" in thickness (3.18mm to 3.58mm)
