... from a greenhorn (ipsc shooter ).

I just picked-up a pair of S.S. 4 3/4" Charles Daly (KBI) Peacemakers.  I can't say I am overly impressed, as each has totally failed to operate after only 150-200 rounds.  One broke the firing pin retaining pin (???) and the other had the loading gate go totally limp and other screws were working loose on both.

Luckily the SA design is easy to open up and work on so I have one back running.  But it does bring to question (after looking thru Brownell's for parts) ... which models would I look to for firing pin parts and spring interchangeability -  Colt SAA? ... Gen. 1 - 2 - or 3? - EMF? - Uberti?

My search on this site does not show any help for KBI or Charles Daly or parts interchange or anything like that.

Can anyone direct me to a site that could show the various models, breakdown the assembly/disassembly info, and slikin' tips?  And I've got a thick skin ... so can you direct me to an honest appraisal of the Charles Daly/KBI products and suggestions for improvement ... or should I just dump-and-run?

Thanks for considering the help.

( - - - I did enjoy opening these up and the simplicity of the interior.  I went very slow with the first stage of smoothing, and that has made each of them feel much, much nicer.)

If these are the ones Charles Daly imported up until a few months ago, they are made by Pietta and are the same as the Great Western II series.  They are fine guns.  You can get parts from EMF or VTI.

Thanks Pettifog ~

Of those you mentioned, I only recognize EMF ... but I'll search it out and should be able to find what I need for spares.  I do remember Brownells offerings related to EMF.

Thanks again ~
