I am looking at a Swede 1874 Rollering Block with nice wood and a great bore, it shoots 12.7x44R, can anyone give advice  on the good bad, ect.
here is the reason I ask, I saw a guy rifle, that looked real nice, had fiddle back wood ect. I made a comment on how nice I liked his rifle, and I said i bet you have a lot of money in it! He replied back, and said no not realy, he stated that there were a lot of these guns coming into the US and he would just be patient and find one in good shape with nice wood and that is how he kept his cost down! The gun I am looking at is advertised as excellent bore! But I don't have a clue on this caliber, because why waste a good barrel if the caliber is okay.
If anyone can help me or knows a place were I can read about the caliber, I would like to know, and would be deeply great full!

Ac;  I have two model 67 rollers in 12.7 x44R, and an underlever capegun with 16 gauge on the other side.

Reloading is fairly easy, because it is so close to .50-70.  Use standard Lyman dies. Starline brass works.  My bullet is a Lyman 512139, same as for the Spencer. Got it for a good price at Midsouth. Factory duplication is with a 350gr. bullet, but if you have 425gr bullets, go for it.  I hand lube with SPG, and load as cast (about.517).  My bores are dark, so Pyrodex leaves less fouling build-up between shots.

The cases have to be shortened from 1.75"to 1.73", a mere 20 thou.  The rims need to be narrowed a bit to fit the rim-seat in your chamber. I did this by chucking the cases in my drillpress and a few turns with a file.  I think it is easier to alter a few cases than alter the chamber.

I think Simpsons is the usual source of Swedish rollers in the US.

If you find a model 67/89 in 8 X 58 Danish Krag, you have a very fine, strong, action for conversion, as they have been re heat treated and new blocks.

Sir Charles, I would of been better off to bought the Swede I found gor $400.00 plus ship, but I have been trying to buy a 1847 Swede action with a new barrel on it and head spacing done, it needs to be changed to center fire and the extractor fitted and wood! I have made a trade for this rifle it is in 45-70 so i don't have to buy more moulds and brass ect.,
Where can a guy go to find a factory butt stock? there has to be a lot of them out there I would think? I spent 3 hours surfing yesterday with no luck! If you know of any place I can look please let me know please!

Ace give Dave a call at Simpson LTD 309-342-5800, or web simpsonltd.com . As I have stated earlier that this shop has many military rolling blocks. Their hours are 1300 to 1800 central time Tue. - sat. if I recall correctly. My hours and current job location, is keeping me out of there. They have a nice old Davis derringer that I would like to get in there, but as said earlier no time. Oh this is out of thread but if looking for a 9mm Walther P1 they have them at real good prices. Bought mine for $200.00, I have done a lot of bussiness with them so that may have helped. Back to the rolling block, I don't know if he has parts , but may be able to help out.
