Pards, Might have been discussed before

I've seen siome postings about pard Larsen E. Pettyfogger's center stud in front of the hammer but, who's tried the plunger and coil spring type hand spring conversion. I already have these in some of the Uberti cartridge models and of course in all the RV's but have not tried any in the Uberti Colt repros. I was down at the range today and had shot the 51's with no problems. But, I pulled out a pair of 60's and only shot one set when one of the hand springs broke. Only have one spare left and I got to thinking a tad more serious about pricing the change-over, convert a pair at a time. I just might be ahead of the game if I convert instead of replacing the one.

So, who'd done the conversion? How'd it work for you, The instructions seem pretty straight forward, I still have both months of the CC. What's some opinions???

Thanks, in advance, and, thanks for your fine detailing and instruction, Mr. Pettyfogger.

Pettifogger

It's been hotter than Hades out in the garage, so I haven't been working to much this summer.  I am working on a series of articles on Uberti Open Tops.  (I.e., cap and ball, conversions, and 72s.  Hopefully, they will be out this fall.)  The Pietta instructions for the hand coil spring will work fine.  A stock Ruger plunger and coil will probably work (or you can use the longer plunger in the articles).  If you find out the plunger is to short, just take the drill bit you drilled the hole with and cut a section off the end.  Round one tip and then fit it to the gun.

Flint

My new hand, with the flat rear surface does not require a longer plunger.  The original hand has a curved back to provide a space for the leaf spring to collapse into.  The flat back also has a smoother travel.  Email me for more info.
