I have a brass frame military model Henry with a blade front sight (approx. .124) wide. Is the sight pressed into the barrel band ? or is it silver soldered ? unable to tell.  I installed a marble tang sight, and would lile to replace the square front sight with a bead type sight. Any suggestions woulld be greatly appreciated.

The front sight on a Henry from the factory is just a pressure fit, no solder is used.  You should be able to tap it out with a hammer.  If the gun is used then someone may have soldered it in sometime in it life.  Take a look at the sight and if you see silver around the sight you will have to heat it up to remove it, if not you should be good to go.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a handsome, and well preserved body; but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming...."WOW!... What a ride!"

For the Henry I had, I had Manatee make a grabber front sight using a old coin for a base.  It definitely was easier to find.
