I picked up a couple new cap n ball revolvers at Cabela's sale last weekend.  I got a pair of their 1851 US Marshal revolvers.  Wow, those guns feel so right, it's unbelievable!  Not to mention the fact that they are so pretty that my wife wants to hang them up in the office.  So what if they aren't historically accurate?  As far as workmanship goes, they are the most solid feeling open tops that I have ever handled, and that's saying a lot, as with my side business (www.bpstuffllc.com), I have handled a LOT of open tops!  I also got a pair of Uberti 1849 Colt pockets.  Those are also pretty sweet, and, interestingly enough, they are the only Italian cap and balls that I have ever seen that have, from the factory, chambers slightly bigger than the bore!  I won't have to ream them! Woohoo!  I fired five shots out of one just to test it, and at 15 feet it shot a cloverleaf into an inch thick piece of plywood, with two balls actually going into the same hole and smashing together.  Not only that, but it lives up to its name.  It actually fits into my pants pockets!  Anyways, I'll post pics as soon as I have finished tuning, fire blueing (only the 1849s), and removing the polyurethane off the grips.  I'll probably have to sell one of each once my wife sees the CC bill, in that case, they'll be posted on my website.  But I can say that both guns are highly recommended.  That 1849 stuffs a lot of fun into a tiny package.

Since the closest Cabela's is almost 300 miles away, I missed the sale. Were there any good deals on other C&B handguns? I'm most interested in a Colt 1849 Pocket Pistol in .31, the .36 1851 Navy and the .44 1860 Army.

As promised, here are pics of the 1849's I picked up.  Now they have been polished and fire blued, with the action tuned up, orange polyurethane removed, and an oil finish applied to the grips.  One has Tresos, the other soon will!

Deadguy ... Your going to simply love them.  Perfect revolvers for FC ... Duelist! ;D  Remember though - they are brushed steel not stainless and need to be cared for.  Bought a pair when they first were available
