Some leather work I did

I've been reading this site for a while, I thought I would finally join. Here are 2 saddles that I made (first and only) The first one took me 1 1/2 years the next one only took me 3 months. I said I did not want to do any more but after a while I started to miss working on them so I made 2 sets of saddle bags to go on them. That only took me about a month. The one set I made a built in holster. At my speed I'd hate to have to make a living at it. I used Herman Oak, and Wicket and Craig leather. Real sheep skin for skirting. All brass and bronze hardware. I copied saddles made in 1858 and 1890. I'm actually thinking about making one more now. Who knows maybe I could kick one out in two months. LOL Oh yea the square box's on the pommels are binocular cases.

Buffalo,  Unfortunately the only horse I have is an old sawhorse out back.  You can't quit now. You got it going.

Thanks for the compliments. I do apreciate it.

In my opinion Herman Oak is the only leather to use on saddles, and Wicket & Craig on everything else. Other than that you are waisting your money.

Buffalo,  Saddles look great the one on the left with the roping horn and lower cantle would be my choice.  But alas I no longer have a horse.  Looks to me you are very talented and could sell them and add to your income to start.  If you likes it then go at it full time.

But be warned what you like as a hobby when you do it for a living sometimes turns into a job and a loss of love for it.
