This last weekend Bow View Haymaker hosted the 2008 Division of Nebraska Mini Muster at the Bow View Farm south of Crofton Nebraska.  The Farm takes it's name from the creek that runs through the property. Originally named Le Riviera de Petite Arc in honor of Sioux Chief Little Bow by early french explorers, the Americanized name became Bow Creek.

While the number of participants was less than Bow View had hoped for, my son, J. Dawg commented that it was the most fun he'd had at a shoot yet. (He should have had fun. Preliminary scores had him as the overall winner) Mrs. Arens, (pronounced Arnz) Bow View Hamaker's mother, catered the outstanding home cooked noon meal which was topped off by Cherry pie for desert and if anyone went away hungry, it wasn't Mrs. Arens fault. Though the Wausa bank thermometer showed 99 degrees, a pleasant breeze made for a beautiful day.

Now as for the shooting:
In the imortal words of Charley Brown, "AAAARRRRGGGG" I had a brain fart on the first target of the second stage and didn't double tap it, earning me a "P" that was to be the only thing standing between me and a clean match. :'( I don't have the official results yet so can't post them but I can say that it was a lot of fun.

Thank you for the kind words and the cool pics.  I will get results up and sent out when I'm back in Nebraska next week.
Just FWY- on the Saturday SASS shoot we had a few more shooters who all had a great time I think.  I tried to write some local history into the stages and keep the shooting interesting.  Some may not have appreiciated a couple of the "unique" sweeps used but part of this game is having to think once in a while.
We are hoping to do it again next year.

On August 2nd-3rd, 2008 we gathered along the banks
of the West Bow Creek near Crofton Nebraska to
Defend Devil's Drop. Held at Bow View Farm, in a remote scenic prairie
setting, we shot 6 Main Match SASS type stages on Saturday and 6 Main Match G A F type
stages on Sunday with a hearty meal both days. We had a great time defending the
homestead, capturing outlaws and fightin' bad guys in general. The Saturday stages each
had a local story to go with them and Sunday's stages had a military story from fightin' on
either side during the civil war, to protecting our hair during the Indian wars in the west. The
weather can only be described as HOT both days but with lots of water to drink we made it
through. Here are the scores:
