I've never marketed that bullet for the 45 Long Colt, but there's certainly no reason for it to perform less well than it does when shot from C&B guns.  The little EPP-UG was a real surprise in that respect also.

So, let's see, now there are EPP-UG, DD/ROA, J/P 45-200 and PRS 250 grain Big Lube™ bullets available to fill any 45 caliber pistol cartridge need.

FWIW, I've been shooting the little EPP-UG out of my front stuffer TC Seneca rifle with fantastic results.  I've not tried the DD/ROA yet, but now I will.

I'm happy to learn from your experiments PUK.  Of such are born many more possibilities than the original designer, me, had ever thought of.

Also, I'm not absolutely sure that there is any need to flatten the nose of the DD/ROA for tube magazine rifle use.  I've shot round nose soft point ammo out of my old Winchester 94 30-30 for years.  Those soft noses just don't seem to make an impression on the primers.  I would have to imagine that worse case scenario might be dropping them down the tube of a Henry, one on top another.

 I dunno about the ROA boolit but the Remington swaged lead 250 grain bullet has a very small flat on the nose, smaller than a large pistol primer. Before trying that bullet in my rifle I put a few primed cases in a deep socket , held a bullet with a pair of pliers and whacked the base of the bullets with a mallet. I bent the foo out of the bullet nose but never popped a primer.

Now this was never a definitive test and, as they say, your mileage may vary. I do not worry about soft RN (and even pointy) bullets in a lever gun. I do the whack 'em with a hammer test and then, when they do not pop a primer, I hold the rifle, or carbine, in my own hands, with the thing snugged up to my own face. Of course I never did get as purty as Momma wanted me to be.

JMOHO..... ::)
It might be OK NOT squidging the pointy end of this boolit in SOFT LEAD when usin in a lever gun,... ( I aint gonna risk it!), Also there is NO WAY I would make this boolit with normal (Harder) Alloy and try it in my #92 without a flat nose!!
The way my luck runs  ::) I would be the ONLY case of a round going off in a lever gun mag tube in recorded history!!

Sooooooooooo. I`ll jest stick with soft lead with its... squidged nose   ;D

Paladin UK,

Lookin' great!  I have some .45 Colt cartridges that look pretty much the same. ;D   No blowby either!

DD,
If you line up  a couple of .30-30 cartridges on a table, you will see that the bullet nose does not line up directly on the primer. That's also the way they line up in the magazine.

Yer rite 44,

The 45 Colt lines up somewhat the way the ol 30-30 does.  It's cuz of the rims.  However, there's still a chance of the primers getting directly in front of the bullet noses.  My take is that a soft round nose bullet may not be capable of igniting modern primers.  I happen to load mostly Winchester or CCI primers and they are likely the least likely to be set off by a soft round nose bullet.

Since PUK is having great success I'd say he's on to something here and far be it from me to pour water on his campfire.  Keep doin' what yer doin' PUK.  It's workin'.
