Hi guys,

The >44-40 Spencer carbine that I just got has a thin (1/8 inch) rod attached to the plastic follower that reduces the number of cartridges that fit in the stock.
Can this rod somehow be removed or does it have to be cut off with a hacksaw?

Thanks,

Just remove the screw in the slot that holds the follower in place (remember about spring tension as you do so), take the follower off the spring, and the spacer rod unscrews.  It is very simple and straight forward.

I just received an infantry rifle last week, It has the Rod also. Mine seems to be one piece withe follower, I guess I'll try again!

Hey R-71,

As instructed, it is so simple that I feel foolish for having asked. The threaded section of the rod in the follower is quite long, but it unscrews really easily. ;D
