Two Flints

Hello SSS,

Thought I'd post this Civil War painting by CWTI art director Frederic Ray, illustrating the uniforms and arms of Kanes Bucktails, 13 PA Reserve Rifles, 42nd PA.

The pistol is a Freeman, made using Ben Joslyn's patents.

found the joslyn but not a freeman type. i guess the ohio soldiers hated the joslyn because after shiloh (?) they returned all revolvers to the war department saying they were unfit for combat. thanks, geo.
