Another pic. The barrel/frame area has been contoured in line with 1st gen Colt Armies. But the original Belgian marks are maintained.

I'd like to see Centaure 1860 Army conversions from the gifted American conversion artists like Ottawa Creek Bill, Kenny Howell or Bob Millington...Just courious.
Hey pards, what do you think?

Long Johns......

That is some beautiful work. I don't have one of the Belgian 1860's, but I may be doing two second generation Colt 1860's this fall.

I'm in the process of drawing up fixtures (CAD) to machine the ejector rod housing and lug assembly out of one piece of steel (like  the originals) instead of three. It takes more metal to do it this way (waste) but its the right way to do it.

Uberti does it the same way as all the other manufactures did in the past and use three pieces in their assembly on their new pistols. You would think that with all of their modern CNC capabilities they could do it the right way. It just goes to show the artistry we had in the 19th century in building these fine revolvers.

SHB: after a couple of weeks of laod finding efforts I shot below 3 targets yesterday: 15 m (left), 25 m (center), 7 M (right). She is right on target when I do my part.
Why did it take so long? I had my problems getting any accuracy out of the galvanized barrel. Finally Nedbal suggested that this approach to reduce the bore might be too innovative and installed a traditional liner instead. And now she is a joy to shoot.

Ausgescheiznet! (I hope I spelled it correctly - it's my favourite German word!  ;D )

Sorry the newer process didn't work as planned.  Do you and Karl think it was because of shooting BP?  I assume this galvanizing process is already working with guns that use smokeless powder.

SHB: I like your German AUSGEZEICHNET
I did shoot only smokeless loads through the galvanized barrel.
I think (which is dangerous) it was not possible to achieve the correct dia of the bore through the galvanization process in the first place for a couple of reasons, i. e. the bore was still oversized for .429/.30 bullets. Like somewhere around .436 whereas the chamber mouths are correctly sized at .430.
Therefore my 2 different solid bullets (.429 dia) were not stabilized but the hollow one base could not open properly due to the correctly sized chamber mouth.
But now with the liner its perfect and that's what counts.
