BLONDI

I recently became interested in rolling blocks and read everything I could get my hands on about that great weapon. In the process I saw some pictures and read about the #7 gallery rifle. I also saw the prices they brought at auction and settled back into the ;I aint gonna get one easy chair. I also like the rolling block pistols and so; when a Uberti pistol receiver in 357 mag. popped up on Gun Broker which I bid on and won. I had know idea what I was going to do with it until I saw a 357 Uberti Baby rifle on Gun Broker that sold real fast with buy it now. I had been trying to figure how I was going to make or get the parts I needed to restore the receiver when it hit me that Uberti Baby rifle probably had all the parts I needed for the receiver and then I realized I also had a barrel too which could be all the hardware needed to build a Remington #7 Rollin Block replica. I also had some nice walnut that I saved from our sawmill when my Dad was still alive. I won the next Uberti Baby rifle in 357 that came up.
I then approached a gunsmith pal of mine who had built many custom rolling block rifles to see what he thought of my idea to build a replica #7 Rolling Block from Uberti parts. He was excited with the concept and so we went over all the pictures we could dig up of stocks etc. I blew-up a number of photos to actual size to use as templates for the walnut I had saved for twentyfive years or so. This is what we came up with :

Shotgun Franklin

If the laws haven't changed it's illegal to convert a pistol into a rifle. I haven't had a gun business in like 30 years so you might check with ATF before going any farther??????
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

Shotgun, I think you have it backwards, You can't change a rifle into a pistol without going through ATF approval (it becomes a short barreled rifle) The other way around is ok.

My pal also had an injury to his hand which wouldn't allow him to do any fine  handwork for the last few years. Since he had surgery recently to correct that problem, he offered to hand checker the rifle. I guess it must have been successful. Here are the results:

This is the walnut I saved all these years. It turned out to be a great piece of wood with tigering and black edges to the grain pattern on both sides of the stock. I had a tough time wrestling this little Doll out of the hands of my pal once it was done.

Can't say as I would blame him!! ;D  Mighty fine looking toy!!
