I am not asking for a pattern, I would just like to have a pic of the whole rig that Irish Dave showed us, I call it the Doc Holiday rig. With a picture, I can see the straps and where they go! I am going to make it for me, so the the under skirting will be shaped to me

If any one can help me any I would be great full

Thanks

Exactly what do you need, pard?
I think the photo I posted earlier is still around. Did that show you what you needed? Not sure I have a shot of the whole thing, but will be happy to assist you with strap placement. Just let me know.

If anyone has/can recommend a good pattern to use for a shoulder holster suitable for Cowboy Action Shooting, I would be very grateful.

I'd like to try and make one to go with my next gun belt/holster project I have planned for the USFA Rodeo II's I am going to buy.

Thanks very much!

Irish Dave, I have the pic you posted, and also one you emailed me, it doesn't show me complete trap place ments! IR, if you could help any I would be great full!

Knucklehead, can't wait untill you get it done so I can see it! I assume Hidecrafter patterns are like the ones that Tandy sells that gives you a lot of diff. guns? What is the difference between the one you are making and the one that Irish Day made? i thought it was a Doc Holiday schoulder holster! Knucklehead, is yours going to be a double rig?

I plan on makeing a Double Doc Holiday shoulder rig for my 1851 Navy US MARSHALLS!

I will be most great full for any and all help!! :) :)

thanks

Ace:

The rig is made up of 4 primary parts:

Upper shoulder harness
Lower shoulder harness
Pouch for revolver
Chest strap

The style I make uses a single chest strap. It attaches (rivets) to the upper shoulder harness in the back (at about a 1 or 2 o'clock position on the assembled harness. The strap then goes down across the back, under the opposite armpit and across the chest in front. It buckles to a small chape attached to the front of the lower shoulder harness close to armpit level.

Don't know if that makes any sense. It'd be better if I had a photo or a good diagram. I'll look and see if I can come up with something.

I have said this for a few months , but I am just about caught up with things that had to be done, and I hired a high school boy to do the jobs  while I over looked him. i have a mule to finish that I have had it cut for 3 weeks just havn't felt like finishing it!
And then I am going to try a small Lilly :) ;D :)
Dave if you could come up with a drawing, it would help a whole lot!
Thanks

Yeah I think I am going to start with the Bravos Jack pattern as a jumping-off point. Unless someone else has seen some other examples that would provide a very well secured, SASS legal pattern shoulder holster.

I'm going to steer clear of going with a double shoulder rig for now and stick with having a strong side draw holster on my belt and just give it a fairly decent muzzle forward cant. I figure that this setup would allow for smooth drawing and reholstering while I continue to shoot Traditional and also allow for an easy transition over to Duelist as I get more comfortable and confident in my shooting at matches.

More than anything it's about style points, I ain't gonna lie :) It'll also be the sweetest plum to finally have pistols that have had a great action job done on them. I am pretty tired of gritty, heavy stock hammer and trigger pulls. It got so bad one of my Uberti's totaled it's hand spring I think. Now the cylinder moves around with the hammer down and at full cock the cylinder actually spins freely :( I'm outta match commission until I can get a my pair of pistols. Gives me time to work on the leather at least ;)

Seath, your trigger bolt spring is broke, that is common, after a lot of shooting, most likely need a new main spring, ground at the right places, at alittle fileing on the bolt, have a good shooter, or sell them to me.

Seth,
One o my Cimmys done that a couple o years ago, I replaced the trigger bolt spring but it still was acting up, turned out to be a sheared hammer cam. Lonnie at Run-N-Iron was on hand as a vendor at the Hell On Wheels 2006 shoot n I stopped by his tent to have him take a look see at my broke pistol. He had to take it back to his shop in Bertrand, Nebraska to tig weld the hammer and he shipped it back to me. If'n I remember right it was about a $45 fix. Lonnie is one fine gunsmith for sure n for certain and he'll do you right. Here's a link to his website:

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice and info pards, as always I can count on the gents here to shed some light on a tricky problem. Odds are that I will end up shipping both my Uberti pistols off to a local smith to have internal work done on them to get them to competition readiness and correct any outstanding performance issues.

In the meantime I'll order some new USFA Rodeo II's from Long Hunter and some Gunfighter grips and shoot my wife's .32 Ruger Single Sixes for the next match or so until I get my pistol situation resolved.
