Howdy HP,

Knew you would love that book. It is the Bible.
You need to learn to like all the little everday things like a sip of good whiskey, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk,  and a feisty old gentleman like myself

I also got:
I See by Your Outfit
Cowboys and the Trappings of the Old West
Cowgirls: Women of the Old West
That should keep me reading for awhile. Mostly just look at the pictures for now. What a great bunch a books and the pictures are something else again.

Ace,
I think ya ought to have that gathering in Kansas City. It is central to everybody and is only about 45 minutes for me. ;D

Cheers,

HP, That would be nice, but I am afraid that most of the group is from out west??????
That is why I want everyone that think they MIGHT want to attend to tell me where they live! I want this to be as fair as it can be for everyone :)
If I win the big Lottery no one would have to worry about the cost of the trip, because I would pay for it all :o
But I can all most for certain tell you that won't happen!!!
I have made a good friendship with TW, and we talked on the phone all the time, I have several books on making Holsters and leather work and have read several of them over and over, but I have learned more from talking to TW on the phone than any book!
Don't get me wrong, books are a good thing, but they won't tell you what you have done right or what you have done wrong!
I buy my supplies down at the Tandy store in Tulsa, it is 80 - 100 miles, they have classes every Saturday morning, I like the kid that teaches, but i just can't afford to go down there very much! It would be different if it was at Joplin, thats 35 mins. from me!
Can't have everything you want!

:)Just think, 30-50 pards all sitting around with there packing Iron book discussing the designs and feature, and why they came to be! How you would copy it, or make small changs to it, to still leave the orginal style but give it your on flare :o :o
Than is what I am trying to do!
i know a lot you you make your living from this, some of you guys have part time buiness in this art form, and there are some that just love creating and a capturin something of beauty, wheter it is out of packing Iron or a copy of WG style holsters, or something you designed in your head! Lets share this passion toghter at a get toghter.
It would be a great relacking time!!
Sorry about the ranting on!!

HorsePen,
Some of your holsters rival those in that book!
One thing that Packing Iron has taught me is how leather ages. What a resource!

Ace, I live in Arizona, but surely would be interested in going if the finances are steady on my end.

Santee, thanks for the good words but I don't think I could hold a candle to these old boys.  These reads are keeping me out a trouble for awhile. Also...I am making a slim jim that matches the other one for my 1839 Paterson. I got a recent gift from a friend and companiero of a 1836 Paterson.  It has a little bit a patina on it, but,.... what the hay? There's a holster in Packing Iron I wish I could get a better look at. That's the thing about books. They bring ta mind more questions when ya read 'em. :D

Say...does anyone have any better pictures of the holster that is in the crease of the hard cover front and back? They would have to put the best one in the crack where ya can't see it very good. It's the one in the middle with the all over field stamping. Is it in any other books that ya know of?

Santee, those 49 er patterns are good ones. I got them too. I think I'll eventually have all a Will's patterns. I'm buying a few at a time.

Many Thanks,

HP,
My Pard TW suggested i get them all to, I bought the three that were on sale, i am just waiting untill they put some of the others on sale!
To make that 49 holster for my Bud In S.C., I had a bud from Ca. send me a pattern, all I did was a slight mod to make it a early Slim Jim. Sam got it yesterday, called me a lyer saying i had to have a 49 laying around to make that holster, because he said it fit like a custom glove!!
I was very please he like it, but he said he loved it!! that made me even happier :) ;D :)
Thanks Springfield for the help!
You all have a good weekend coming up!!!
