the 1860 henry i just bought will be the second engraved rifle (1873 uberti) i bought from this estate and the second rifle to come with out the firing pin.

is there a reason engraved uberti rifles don't have the firing pin in them, or is it just my rifles from this guy/collector/estate?

Not enough info to state an educated answer..

But based on the fact both are from the same estate sale, My guess is the gent either removed or had the pins removed
either for safety or maintain an unfired condition....

If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say it was to maintain an unfired condition and possibly for safety.  It's easy enough to fix though on both rifles. ;D

If they were originals from Winchester I might have issues with firing original engraved guns, but not with Uberti copies.  Just my opinion.

Howdy 1988RRC. You just barely beat me on that engraved 1860. I had my finger on the button to bid again in the last few seconds. When I pushed the button my computer screwed up! Oh well, I guess I'll take that as a sign that I didn't really need to buy another rifle this week. I already bought an 1873 and an 1866 this week.

oh man, i wondered who that was; i had watched that rifle each day for the full 14 days with no one bidding until the last 15 minutes; this is the same guy i bought the engraved 'one of one thousand' 1873 winchester / 1873 colt ssa set from.

since it did not get another bid, i though someone was just running up the price. i was also watching it as the seconds counted down  and was ready to make additional bids.  glad to hear someone from this site was watching it.

did you know it didn't have a firing pin?

Bull Durham

Yeah, I knew it was missing the firing pin but figured I could remedy that problem. It sure is a purdy rifle. I hope you enjoy it. I will get me a purdy Henry one day. I did pick up a NIB 1866 last week for $560.00 and I got a good deal on a slightly used 1873. Both are in 44WCF. I already have an 1866 and two 1873's in .45.

Good shooting.
