Anyone know why I cant get a hold of R&D phone is full & cant get an answer in the e mail? Got a defective cylinder needs replaced.  thanks .

Dick Dastardly

Cowboys have said that they have better luck if they get hold of the dealer they bought the cylinder from.  It seems that R&D isn't much good at answering phone calls.

Like Dick said ,I could get ahold of the vendor I got the cylinders from, but try as I might ,not R&D. The problem wouldnt by chance be with the firing pins ,I might be able to offer you some help,if it is.    Good Luck geting ahold of them,I gave up.     Adios  Sgt. Jake

It was a auction house . I have saveral R&D s & they were all tight this  one is like the cap is wrong. It will not index the cap is loose. A pard had good luck with a return several months ago. with just a phone call . me well how this turns out will be a voice for the company. More to follow.

Check the length of the pin.  If it's too short (from wear or whatever) the cylinder cap will not index properly.  I bought via the internet  a used R&D 51 Navy cyl with an abused pin...it looked like he'd beaten it with a hammer...which could not have been the case as the cylinder itself showed no tool marks.  This thoughtful individual neglected to mention this problem at all; I only discovered it after paying for the item and receiving  it thru the mail.  I contacted R&D, left my name and number and nature of problem on answering machine.  I needed to know if pin was pressed in or threaded.  Within two days my call was returned and I got the info I asked for.  Within ten days a replacement pin arrived free of charge.  The pin I'm talking about is pressed into the cylinder and aligns the plate with the cylinder.

This may not be your problem; but since it's something you can check by eyeball (and is the primary weak point with this type of cylinder, i.e., only one combination retaining and alignment pin.....three would be much better!!!) check it out.  Also, I'm making a point about the excellent assistance I received from R&D.  By the way, I didn't run into this deal through anyone from this forum.
And the repair wasn't that difficult; I just needed a good drillpress and a better machinest's vise.
