Bull Schmitt,

I was looking at the GAF site and reading the requirements for the postal shoot, I did not see a distance posted for the rifle, the distance for the pistol was 15yd, I think that would be a bit close for the rifle.

We're in the process with re-writing the regs for the Postal Match  so there's not much sense in Col. Bull changing the web site now. Currently the Rifle is at 50 Yds.

Pitspitr,

That makes sense, and thank you for the distance.

I went back and read some of the criteria. Did it change to shooting 85% of targets at a CAS shoot in uniform recently, or did I just never see that before? Heck, I'd put my name in considering that criteria, but that's crass to put yourself up for an award, besides, I couldn't recall which shoots I've done that at, but I know for a fact I've done it more than once...

Dr. Bob

Capt. Bishop,

Well GOLLY!  If'n you don't put yerself in, who will??  99% of the submissions are done by the member that did the deed! ;D  Most of the time no other member is aware that it could qualify for a SoM. :o ::)  You are the  one who knows when you meet one of the criteria.  Just fill in the form on the GAF web site and we will get it posted.  Don't feel bad, feel PROUD!   ;D  I'll be looking for the notification in my mail box!

No, you mis-read it. It is 85% of the possible score in matches that use paper targets. As an example, you go to your State BPCR match shooting your Trapdoor and wearing your Span-Am War uniform.  You shoot 5 shots at each of 4 targets for a possible of 200. You'd need a score of 170 to qualify for the GAF Marksman Award.

At CAS style matches you have to shoot clean.

As Dr. Bob said you just about have to put yourself in for the SoM. Usually when we do something that merits a SoM there is no other GAF member present to witness it.
