Shot my EMF-NKJ 1892 44-40 yesterday at a local match.  Frontier Cartridge - Goex FFg.  First up - long range pistol-cartridge side match.  8 rounds, smooth as my 92 ever runs.  Then to the main match stages.  After firing my 10 pistol rounds, picked up my rifle, levered the action down and......stuck!   ???  The carrier wouldn't lift the round up into the loading position.   I managed to get it out, levered the action again and.......stuck again!  :-[  For the first three stages, I probably got about 4-5 rounds off with my rifle.  The rest of the stages went better, but there were still the occasional "stickers" - but I am getting pretty good at clearing these jams on the clock.  ;D  After I got it home and cleaned it out good, I got more to feed successfully, but there were still some odd ones that would jam up the works.  I am leaning on the problem being with the OAL of my bp reloads.  I read that I need to keep this between 1.540 and 1.592.  If I am out of spec here, would this cause this type of problem?  Anyone have similar experiences?  I shot last year and this year without a problem - it just started yesterday.

For the best answer to any '92 question, you want to consult Nate Kiowa Jones (aka Steve Young) of Steves Gunz in Port Arthur, TX.  He is the expert on M-92s, a good guy, and posts often on the SASS wire.

Thanks Sagebrush!  I originally bought this rifle from Steve along with one of his famous action jobs.  Thst's why I am leaning on an "outside" variable (i.e. my ammo!)

Check your ammo spec, you may be off , this is enough to cause the problem if you are loading your own.

Been there done that. If the OAL is not right on then you get nothing but feed errors. As Steve says in the beginning of his DVD 92 are OAL sensitive. They tend to be fussy eaters, but once you get it right YEEEHAAA  ;D ;D 8) 8)

I have the same problem, seems to be that some ammo is too fat to fit through the cartridge guides, while others just slide right through.

Not too sure about it, but when you seat the bullet, and tighten the brass around it, is that referred to the *crimp*?

I've noticed that sometimes that little bump is what's causing my problems.

God forgives, I don't........

Four Eyed Floyd

Yes that is a crimp but I put  a light one on it. Enough to keep the bullet from being pushed back in the cartridge. :o
