You guys that make US and CS stamped items, what are you using for the pattern for the markings? Is it a stamp or a carved pattern? I am trying to make myself some gear, but need to figure out this item. Thanks. DM

What I did was to make a pencil rubbing of an original then I transfered it onto an old aluminum griddle and got out the dremel tool. It isn't a great stamp but it works.

I wondered that Henry, but its a BIG stamp. He could make it a craftaid as well, but then you would have to tool it.

Pitspitr, thats a great idea. It would probably work pretty good in a vice.

That's how I use it. I'm having a new makers mark made by the guy that own the land our range is on. It should be about done and while I was thinkiing about your original post it got me wondering if he could make a US stamp.

I'll try to remember to bring my "US" to Lincoln with me.

Howdy
I have always carved it in in the past. Weaver Leather has the plates to stamp it in.
