What is up with Taylor & Co? I ordered a schofield in January and they give me the same answer everytime I call. "We expect some in any day now."

I know for a fact that the distributors like Taylor are completely at the whim of Uberti.  Taylors will usually not know what they are getting from Uberti until the item clears customs.  Personally,  I think the person you talked to at Taylors should just tell you that so you can lower your expectations.   Schofields have always been a bit harder to get.  You will love it when it finally arrives.

I don't understand why they don't have them in stock, or any others when you order either. I have heard many different excuses over the past couple of years on why. however 3 of the 4 gunshops I have been in in the past couple of weeks have had a Uberti schoefield in stock

yeah, its been seven months now that I've been waiting. They say the same thing every time I call to check. "We expect some in any day now." I will NEVER purchase another product from Taylor & Co.

I figure that every foreign producer getting paid in US dollars has plenty of incentive to ship now, before the dollar/Euro declines further.  Either that or raise their prices, which it appears happened after the first of the year.  Maybe their dealer agreements only allow for annual adjustments to dealer costs?

Are you saying that Taylor's has had your money for seven months and hasn't delivered?  That's got nothing to do with anything other than poor customer service, bad policy and lack of customer responsiveness.

I thought they were supposed to be one of the premier suppliers for us.

Please keep us posted how this resolves; I'm still considering them for a fitting of an R&D to my 60 Pietta.

I've got my excuses and I'm stickin' to 'em.

BP - That's precisely what I am saying. They have had my $825 for the past seven months and have yet to deliver the product. I'd say that is less than optimum customer service...and I usually give vendors the benefit of the doubt. Never again.

I have never heard of Taylors taking money up front like that.  I always order through my FFL and have never had problems like you guys have been describing.  Taylors, more than other distributors have been known for their customer service.  I would just ask for my money back on the gun you have been waiting  7 months for and buy it someplace else if you can find it.

I ordered a Schofield and an 1872 open top back in december from Taylors.  Got the Schofield.  The 1872 is on backorder through my ffl dealer.

I have called several times since december (and yesterday) and have received 1 of 2 responses.  Most frequently I have received the response DeadEye Don noted at the first of this thread ... they have them on order but have no idea what Uberti will ship until it clears customs.  The other response I have received twice (the one I received yesterday) was they have an order scheduled to clear in August and they may be in that shipment.

I also check with Cimmaron and BAC.  Cimmaron is usually a variation on the two from Taylor's.  BAC tells me that they have none of the variations and then they check their supplies and tell me that there are none in the US.

One time, from Taylors, back in december, they told me that they thought the open top would be in 1st of jan.  When I called to check there were none in the order.

For those having cash sitting out there I suggest calling, see if they will refund and keep your spot in line.

Hope this helps.

David
