I've been reading a great deal about the Chaparral NWMP carbine, and I've wanted one since about the Bi-Centennial (1976) I've also read about the disappointing guns coming out of Italy, and don't want a dog of a rifle I pay over $750-1200.00 US for. I've loaded the .45-70 in both smokeless and black powder using GOEX FFg and Ctg, as well as smokeless and have shot an original 1873 Winchester in .44-40/.44 WCF (that I still have over a thousand cases & bullets ~ 205 gr for) I used to own and foolishly pawned to get money to keep a home that got repo'd anyway. But I shot that '73 (made in 1890) successfully with 8.0 grains of Unique, and 35.5 gr of GOEX CTG/FFG.

I also have a chance to get a Navy Arms 1873 saddle ring carbine for ~ $600.00 US here in the Denver area (Parker).

Any suggestions or advice would be helpful.

Howdy Spacedude,
Just FYI, Uberti is going to be coming out with a '76 Carbine, gives you another choice if you want to wait for that.

I assume there must be some good finished Chap NWMP's out there, but I didn't get one.

I hope Uberti comes out with their own soon as an alternative to one one company's offering.

Spacemanpan, if you decide to get one, do a good inspection on it prior to purchase just to make sure its all good.
