Hello the Fire,

Would a McKeever cartridge box be considered SASS legal as leather belt slide ammo loops?

You can even convert them to use as 12 guage and 10 guage shell holders like I did.

BTW due to doing the conversion I got a full naswer from Palewolf Brunell - that McKeever's are completely legal and present absolutely no credible advantage at all.

Just remember unti they are wore in you need to unhasp th tope before you start shooting - very hard to get them opened one handed on the clock especially when they are brand new!!

There is a thread here somewhere from when I did my conversions of the McKeever to hold 12 guage shells.

Got my McKeever from Pacific Canvas & Leather. Did a little wet moulding on the the leather backing for the canvas loops sos as to tip the cartridges slightly forward as per the original McKeever.  Inserted the cartridges in the loops in a staggered manner and left the first and last loop empty for ease of grasp on the case, can snach out a reload just as fast as off a belt. My rifle is .44 mag and don't feed the .44 specials my pistols eat worth a hoot sos I got 8 each .44 special rounds in the upper loops and 8 each .44 mag in the bottom loops. Also did a little wet moulding on the edges of the box and center leather cover over the brass rod, she opens nice n easy with one hand. Here's a pic of my rig, the holster is a Carrico 5 1/2" 1885 Cavalry model, the belt was made by me.

Sweet!

Mine open easy now that I have used them for a year or so.

Got plenty of compliments this weekend on mine.
