Some Holsters Don't Want To Be Made

Inspired by HorsePen Henry's recent wonders, I decided to go for a similar holster for my 7.5" Colt.
I bought a light brown dye, new stamps (50% off!), and brass spots for the loop. Never done spots before so that was interesting. Kind of a trial and error, but they came out ok.
My stamping didn't come out as planned, and the dye went on way too dark.
Things I can live with...until...

I screwed up the stitching!! I think there was an awl placement error or something. Don't really know how it happened, but that was the last straw.
The holster looked at me and said, "Let me go. I'm ready to go. I'm so tired. Please tell the other holsters I love them."

Services for my holster will be at 8:00 p.m. tonight. Members of the leather community are welcome to attend.

I have a Paterson holster that needs interred. It turned out way too tight. Can't even get the cylinder in it. Maybe we can have a double funeral.

I had a Starr pattern I made that I patterned way too tight. Bad thing is I cut out about 3 holsters out of it before I realized it.
Save them for making knive sheaths. DM

Don't feel bad - even after 46 years my "garbage" pile continues to get filled on a regular basis..........

Another option I have used for some of my lost cause efforts is to take the to an antique shop and sell them for $5.  The dealer is happy because they can make money on it and some customer who wants something that looks old west is happy.  Just a thought.

I thought about that. Like the Antique store idea, too. I just can't. The stitching is too bad.

I had one that was a bit experimental.  I lined it a la El Paso Saddlery.  It was intended for a SAA, but was too tight.  I tried stretching it while wet, but it refused all my efforts.

I kept it!  It is a perfect fit for my Single-six!
