As I found the converted 1860 Pietta 45 Colt a good home, I just acquired an Armi San Marco 1860 in nice shape.  It has a dovetailed front sighht, which is nice, even though mostly it will be used for Civil War re-enacting and blanks.

The question is this:  ASM 1860s, do they take Uberti (shorter) extra cylinders, Pietta (longer) or strictly propritary cylinder.  I seem to remember a thread quite awhile ago about this, but when I found it, most posts said Pietta, and some said Uberti!

I have used some Pietta replacement parts on my ASM. Not everything is Identical. I am not sure about the cylinder. You may inquire with VTI they might know, I believe they even have a few ASM parts

I've heard folks claim Uberti cylinders fit.....but that was after I'd installed a Pietta  :D

With the Pietta, I did need to dress the rear of the barrel a few thousandths to allow rotation of the cylinder. The bolt engages the notches well, but not perfect, but I shoot the revolver so I'm not real fussy. lockup is tight.

The problem with the original cylinder was that the rear face wore ( a groove) from rotating against the hardened frame & developed too much fore-aft movement.
