Wondering if any of you guys sell some of the holsters you make? I just bought me a pair of 1851s and bought the Hickock Holsters from Cabela's. Well.....I holstered the pistols in and out a few times and within 2 min the thread of the holsters were coming apart. What can you expect for 17.00 I guess.

I am looking for two holsters for these two pistols now. If anyone has any for sale that is of decent quality please let me know.

Thanks guys.

Cabela's usually does a really good job of standing behind the product they sell. I'd take them back.

I do plan on doig that but was not sure about buying the same product again. The stitching in them are just very cheap and dont think they would last under and real use. They were cheap and while I didnt expect much, I didnt expect them to come apart that easy.

BLATANT COMMERCIAL MODE ON!  Go to www.gunfighter.com/trailrider or just go to the Gunfighter Zone and click on the link to Trailrider Products. Take your pick.  I ain't cheap, but on the other hand, my nylon or poly threads (depends on the application) don't come apart unless you take a knife blade to them!

Unlike many I do not recommend any of the brands that are carried by the outfit you mention.  To many pards have come my way wanting one or the other problems with them solved and many of the problems displayed can not be solved reasonably.  Bleeding, poor fit and soft leather (no body) being two of the most common complaints.  Your problem is actually one of the easier ones to fix at home and only requires one needle and some good thread.  With just one needle you can actually perform a running stitch to go over the first few holes, top and bottom, a couple of times to lock everything down tight.  I'l bet your wife could show you how quicker than I could describe it.  I have seen leather quality thread and needles offered at Wal-Mart and several craft stores through the years or just give Tandy a quick call.  You will be developing a bunkhouse skill that may come in handy for the future also, so save the leftovers for later use.

One last thought, those soft oversized embossed pouches are probably closer to many of the holsters that were found in the latter part of the old west than most of our modern custom rigs are!  It is a matter of whats important to YOU and your priorities.

Thanks guys.
I believe I have answered all of the PMs unless I missed one. I will check back later.

Thanks for the links and the tips on fixing the ones I have now.

I will def look into all aspect of this and figure out what I want to do for now.
