I have seen a drawing of this box and I can't understand how it is suppose to be carried.  There doesn't appear to be any buckles to attach a sling to and with 35 rounds in each block and 3 blocks in every box that's 105 rounds.  That's a lot of weight to put on a waist belt.  There must be some way to sling it.  Does anyone know how this is accomplished?

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a handsome, and well preserved body; but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming...."WOW!... What a ride!"

Major, that is a good question.

And the box that's offered for sale quotes 4 boxes of 33 rounds = 132 rounds = VERY heavy for a waist belt.

Their picture is hard to see since it won't blow up - and those extra straps they show don't seem to amount to a sling of sorts.  ???

According to the guy at Period Leathers the drawing omitted two rivets on the straps toward the bottom of the box that would form a belt loop so it could be attached to a waist belt.  But I still think that this box would be too heavy for a waist belt attachment when fully loaded.  Perhaps the waist belt had a shoulder strap attached to it.

I just bought a box from period leathers, and it is excellent quality.  The design does not allow for a sling, and it is carried on a waist belt.  Quite heavy for your belt, but works excellent when attached to the right side of our saddle.

This is a nice box.  What size are the holes drilled in it?  Would they hold 45 Schofields or 44-40 crimped blanks?  4X33 rounds is a heck of a lot of firepower for a CW trooper!

I once saw a single box that had 30 or 33 holes in one layer, made like a Sharps or Spencer cavalry box.  Might have been a "onesy" though.

If it holds Schofields or crimped 44-40 (or crimped 410) blanks, it will be on my Christmas wish list!

PS: At the moment I am planning on usinf a spare tarred haversack I have that I use for my Smith empties
