The Wild West History Association will be holding its 1st Annual meeting in Tulsa, OK July 16-19.  This is the first "National" meeting since the new association was formed by the merging of the National Association of Outlaw and Lawan History (NOLA) and the Western Outlaw-Lawman History Association (WOLA).  The President of WWHA is Robert McCubbin, publisher of "True West" Magazine, and the Vice President is Dakota Livesay from "Chronicle of the Old West" newpaper and radio show.  The membership includes many Western historians, writers, musicians, and screenwriters.  A more detailed description may be found at their website:  www.wildwesthistory.org

On Friday, July 18th, they will be touring the Dalton Defender's Museum in Coffeyville, Kansas, which will include a re-enactment (yes, I am a participant) of the October 5, 1892 raid in which the three Dalton brothers and two other gang members attempted to rob the Condon and First National Banks.  The townspeople defended their town, and only Emmett Dalton survived.  The Chamber of Commerce here is expecting about 100+ members of the WWHA to attend, but as yet I do not have a firm time ("around lunchtime") as to when they will be in Coffeyville.  They will also be visiting the J.M. Davis Gun Museum in Claremore, OK, the Woolarock Museum near Bartlesville, OK, and the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa on other days.  The full schedule is on the website.  You can contact Kirsten Stotts at the Coffeyville Chamber of Commerce (kstotts@coffeyville.com) for more information of the Coffeyville visit, or for information concerning viewing, or participating in, the re-enactment.
