I've been drooling over the CA "USV artillery" SAA clone every since it came out, and with my "stimulus check" and annual bonus from work coming within two weeks of each other, even my wife couldn't find a good reason for me not to have one!

Haven't shot it yet, might just use it at the two-day CAS shoot this weekend...

What a shame.  Such a waste of money.  Since we're pards, I'll be happy to take it off yer hands so ya won't have to be em-bare-assed to be seen in public with that thing.  :o  ::)  ;D ;D ;D

What're friends for?   ;)

REALLY nice, Captain, Sir!

I told my wife that it was such a shame to only have one of these and not a set.
The gal is learning. She pointed out my reasoning for getting it other than a backup for CAS: "You got this because it's an accurate reproduction, right? I recall you having a hard time finding a right handed holster (M1885) for your other pistols because they usually only carried one in a left handed holster. Now, more than one isn't historically accurate, is it?"
DANG IT, I hate when she uses logic against me. That just ain't fair!  :P

Dr. Bob

Capt. B.,

Remind her that as an officer you can darn well do as you please!  Regulations be darned!! :o ::) ;D ;D  Custer carried 2.  So can you! ;) ;D  Being historically authentic. ;D

None taken a bit!

I was a little hesistant to shoot this pistol for the very first time when shooting at a CAS match, so it stayed in my vehicle while I shot this stage with my Rugers yesterday:

Mighty sexy pistol you got there.  I liked your pistol to the point where I just ordered one from EMF.  I did have incentive as I was the lucky winner of an EMF Gift Certificate for $75.00 at the Prince of Pistoleers annual match in Lenexa, Kansas this weekend.  Oh, by the way, I know I am biased, but I highly recommend the match.

It will go great as my wife has been given the strongest of hints to get me a USV uniform from the Quartermasters shop.

Thanks for the pictures Cap....

A true bit of inrony for me was at the weekend match I was at, I won a $40 off cupon for a Cimarron Arms P model (which this is one of) from texas Jacks, less than a week after buying same said pistol! Oh well, it's good for a year, so maybe I'll get a matched set after all eventually...

Major Matt Lewis

I saw that you wife has become interested in autheticity when it comes to spending less....LOL, they all do.  Well, Capt, I am here to tell you that your excuse to purchase another one is that it is a faux paus in these circles at least here in Kansas, to not have matching pistols. ;)

Well, it SOUNDS like a good excuse for you to get another one :D

"Honey, I can't have mismatched pistols.  The boys will laugh at me."  You know we won't, but she doesn't....

Drop me a PM if you're interested in info on Rough Rider impressions, I have good links to various vendors, some of which make good stuff that they have in stock and isn't quite as pricey as Quartermaster is. Also, I have found that some of their stuff isn't quite as accurate as they think it is, after I've gone over some of their stuff with the die-hard Span-Am historians.

Pony Racer

Guys - I am definitely in the same boat (pardon the pun) with buying pistols and historical accuracy.

I went into shock when wife bought me a pair of 1872 OT's in 44 Russian for our 14 year anniversary - as my gift.  Of course she got all new kitchen appliances - so I think she was in lala land.

The funniest thing was when she brought them home (they were action jobbed and antiqued prior to purchase) she asked why were all my pistols were not so neat (she likes the antiquing) and so smooth and added - "don't you think all your guns should operate this smoothly??"

I could only smile.. (yes two guns have since had the actions smoothed)

My next uniform is a toss up - more quartermastershop work on USRCS uniforms (short jacket (specialty item  - they will do but will be about 100.00 more than normal) and great coat or a 1880's French Uniform (getting into family history - and them brace of french 1873's need a uniform!!)
