Update Profile

Howdy, Marshall,
I've tried about 5 times to add to my profile. I put in my personal info, etc., add a photo, and click the update button. Screen goes blank and status bar says "Done." I have to reload the profile page, and the changes aren't there. WTF am I doing wrong? (Sorry for the expletive deleted, but I'm gettin ornry.)

I'm talking about the profile you fill out when you join. There's a link icon in the forum post over to the left, along with the email and im icons.

Might be a couple of things going on.  Let's start with your picture.  Attach the one that you want to use to your next post and we'll go from there.

ok, looking at the maximum size for an attachment, i see my pic is too large (1.05MB)....that's probably true for the profile too, eh? oh well, guess i'll just have to be the the mystery guest! though i would like to post my email and im addies...

The picture size would keep the rest from loading up.  Try changing your profile without attaching the picture.

You can make a copy of the picture and then right-click on it in Windows Picture viewer and you should get an option to resize the picture, try resizing to an 800x600 resolution that should bring the size down to a level you can upload.  The reason I say use a copy is if you accidentally reduce the picture and it doesn't work you still have the full sized original to work with

Thanks, Lucky. Tried it and got the rest of the profile loaded, but I don't see the resize option when I right click on the pic....I'm using Windows XP...does that make a difference? My knowledge of Windows stopped with Windows 95! Not quite a Luddite, but gettin there! Anyway, I'm gonna forego the pic until I have one of my alter-ego, Black Jack Harris.

For Windows XP if you go to www.microsoft.com and search for XP Power Tools you will notice that one of them is a Photo Resizer, run that and you should be able to resize pictures the way I told you.  Looking forward to seeing a photo of Black Jack Harris!
