I just received my New Vaquero today and I have a question.  While slowely pulling the hammer to check the timing, I noticed the cylinder latch engages the cylinder well before the cylinder notch is rotated near the cylinder latch.  I can tell it won't take long to score the cylinder.  Is this normal, or is the timing horribly off?  I have a Uberti Cattleman and the cylinder latch engages at the proper time.  Thanks, Ryan

Normal for Ruger. Don't worry about it.   :) :) :)

My NV does the same thing. Locks when it should which is a far cry from my 1851, 60 and 61 repros. The cylinder over rides every time on the repros and I have to manually rotate the cylinder back to the proper position before shooting.
