I hve ordered a silver "COLOR GAURD" form http://www.paradestore.com/detail.aspx?ID=276 along with color gaurd lapel pin, & flag with a werath around it. Color Guard isn't pcitured, but is in the drop down menu.

I will bring all 3 to the national muster for consideration.

Dusty

Dusty,

Thanks for taking the lead on this.  I was just getting ready to do the same when you posted.

At this time, I'm inclined to halt awarding the SoM for Color Guard, but those who do serve on a Color Guard, will have the option of wearing a suitable pin to denote that service - but only should they wish to do so.  As has been pointed out, it is an honor to serve on the color guard and that should be enough.  On the other hand, it is also well to acknowledge those who have dedicated their time to serve.

However, I will wait to see how these pins look, and how the membership thinks, before making that decision.

Us Scout,

My only input would be how "obstreperous" will the new Color Guard device be mounted on a crowded GAF Medal?

I will be taking that into account before making my decision.

"obstreperous." Boy that's a big word for someone like me, let me go and get my dictionary, ha ha.  ;D

::) Sounds more like a question than a comment ;)

Actually, I think that was the whole point of this discussion. If you do more than 3 color guards you'd have at least 3 SoM's whereas if we had a device for a color guard that was the only device you earned no matter how many times you were in a color guard, it would less "clamorous or turbulent" on  the GAF ribbon.

My sentiments exactly!

One "Color Guard" (perhaps Honor Guard if done at a funeral) banner no matter how many are done.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Lord knows it has to be better than having one person with half a dozen Stars on their membership badge.

The "Color Guard" Bar from Glendale, comes in bronze, silver, & gold. If used, 1-4 bronze, 5-9 silver, 10+ gold.

Personally when it comes to SOMs, to keep medal from grtting too cluttered, I only place one on at a time, currently have a silver, will not add any more until I can replace it with gold.
