I figured on using the standard 350 gr bullet. Can someone please advise what bullet mould I should get.

Thanks in advance

Well I supppose that I might as well get into this here.  I have used the 350 grain Buff Arms bullet and did so with some pretty good luck.  then I went to my old Lyman HP and plugged up the hollow point to get a solild nose.  then I went and ordered a custom Hoch mold and there is where I am at now.  I know that mold is spendy but it meets everything that I want in a bullet for my 45-75.  I use a 20:1 alloy and that is what my mold is built around.  It casts at 0.459 and sizes to 0.458 which is what I want.  As far as powders go, the best luck that I have had is 22.0 grains of 2400 and 72.0 grains of Swiss 1½ BP.  That BP load is pretty good as far as fouling goes too.  Easy to clean.  Both types of loads have shot under 2 inch groups (10rounds each) at 50 yards and are in there at 100 yards-both using my Hoch molded bullets.  Hopes this is of some help.   ;)

The 457122 Gould Hollow point works.  Apparently members of THIS BOARD persuaded Lyman to re-introduce the 457192.  This one was designed for the .45-75 and is very much like the Gould but without the hollow point.  There was a special order, but check with Lyman to see if it in stock.

I'm gonna stick with the gould until something better drops in my lap.

McLernon - the Lyman 457192 mold was a special run of the original Ideal bullet for the 45-75.  The mold can only be purchased from Lou Sellman (Custom Cast Bullets) ... customcastbullets@yahoo.com ... 412-299-0412

Lee Precision makes the 457-340F mold that will also shoot nice groups

I have both - cast bullets from each and am pleased with the groups
