Rick.......

Here's a couple of photos of the 1860 first model Richards Conversion I did last year that you wanted to see, it is also the same revolver I am holding in the tin type I had made at last years NCOWS National shoot.

Beutiful workmanship, wish I had the skills to build one myself.  Now lets see if you can convert a patterson!  That's one that is high on my wish list!

Thank you for the pictures of your great looking gun. It would be great to meet you some time at a shoot and talk.

Appreciate the compliments boys...there are a couple of details on this revolver that are not 100% perfect, like a detail on the back of the loading gate.

My horse barn is being wired for lights and heat and should be done this month, once that is finished I can start building my new shop on the north side and put my machine tools back together. My first project is to build a fixture just for making the loading gate correctly.

I bought a new Uberti 1860 percussion revolver that I am going to convert this fall. I also have a Uberti 1851 that I am going to convert for my wife Patty, to shoot .38 Long Colt heeled bullets. She is wanting to shoot and she'll be shooting Black powder...naturally.
I wouldn't shoot anything else in these old guns....its sacrilegious to do otherwise....or laziness.    Just Kidding ;D ;D

I thought about doing a Patterson...but I've never found historical documentation that it was ever done. History and accuracy of how the Old West actually was is what drives me, and that includes the equipment used in addition to clothing and accouterments. If I could find one that was done and in common use I might do one.
I am going to do a conversion of the Colt Root Rifle that Dixie Gun Works sells, the nice thing about belonging to NCOWS is I'll be able to use it as my main match rifle. I think that would be an awesome duo mated with my 1860 first model Richards.

Actualy Bill there is a documented conversion, I believe it's a factory conversion, of a Patterson.  If I remember rite it was converted to 41 cal. and is the only known example.  Basicly there was no good reason to convert a 30+ year old gun, especialy one as primitive as the patterson, except that somebody probably wanted it done.  There were posibly more pattersons converted, but it isn't likely, it's a very rare bird.  And looks pretty cool too!

In any event I love your work, and look forward to seeing what you come out with next!
