I think I got lucky today. While searching for some .348 Win. brass to reform for the 45/75, I ran across a website offering some of the older ammunition for rifles. Turns out he had reformed 50 Alaskan brass already made to 45/75, and along with that he had some loaded ammo [same type brass] with 340 grain soft lead, soft lubed bullets for $40.00 a box. Needless to say I called immediately, since finding componants and/or loaded ammo is quite a challenge or quite expensive! Got a couple of hundred of those softer 340 grain bullets lubed for a decent price too, but all in all, it was still an expensive phone call. At least I know I'll have enough brass and bullets for a few outings - I'm itchin' to shoot this beautiful Uberti rifle!

Here's the kicker. Turns out he works out of his farm; he's been doing this sincce finishing GS school in 1963; and he's located 20 miles from my hunting shack in northern WI! All this time I've been searching all over the USA for ammunition for the 45/75, and it was in my back yard a stones throw away. Yup - I got lucky!

Yeah - I feel really great about this. I don't fall into a bucket very often, but this time I think I got the lucky draw...

THat sounds like GAD Custom.    If it is, he is a real nice guy.  That is where I got some 45-75's that were 348 reformed brass.

That is the fella! Seemed real nice on the phone. Sounds like a veteran at making obsolete type ammo - sure seemed to know his stuff!
Have to been to his place of business personally? Sounded like he worked out of his home. I had to laugh when I told him I had sent an email, and his response was - Don't check email daily - we have to go to the library in Medford to get on a computer to check emails!
Definately an "old school" gentleman.
