I have put my house up as collateral for buying some .451 round balls ::).  Now i need to know where you folks find them the cheapest.

The best price I've found is 10.58 at Gamiels.

what ya gonna shoot 'em in ? . . . I got a "starter kit" from Cabelas for my first Pietta '58 Reminton.  .451 balls came in it.  Leaded the barrel badly.  Barrel turned out to be .454 .    I now use .457 balls.  shave a nice big ring of lead when seated.

Good shootin', . . . .  :)

If you don't find what you need, I can cast you some with soft leap pipe fitting lead. I have a .44 cal conical mold that I think drops around .456. Let me know how many you need, and your price. They have two lube grooves.
Smoke em if ya got em.

Maybe you need to get a conversion cylinder and just reload your own cartridges.  Get some Cowboy .45 Special Brass, some round nose lead bullets, primers and Trail Boss powder for smokeless or Triple 7 2fg for Black along with a Lee hand press and you're good to go!  ;)

The Marshal already has conversions and I believe he's considering  going whole-hog into Frontiersman  :o
I do recommend .454", and pure lead (ta-boot)...but in any case, the best prices I found were in the Cabela's stores....at least the KC (Kansas store had a great price when I visted there last summer. These were "house" brand and looked to be good for the money.

All my chambers have throats that are a bit tight, . . . the Remingtons and the Webleys.  Remingotns still shoot better and don't lead that barrels with the .457 balls even though a lot is shaved off when seating.  I can only figure that it is bumping up enough. I shoot full loads.   A cylinder throat reamer is on my shopping list with all the pistols and extra cylinders I've got it doesn't work out to very much pur hole to buy my own.

Good shootin', . . .  :)

Ok Thanks for the replys. ;D

I won't make my own. I worked 30 years for the phone company. I've melted all the lead I want to. We used to do it in poor weather in tents to keep things dry. Nothing like a sudden roof leak to see who can find the door quickest! :o

I'm shooting them in my 58"s. As my good freind Montana Slim said I already have conversions but I don't think they'll catch on ::)! Actually I like the cap and ball routine. It's kinda like driving a manual transmission, ya get a better feel for the machine.

I do get some leading with .451's but I'm shooting pretty mild loads. I am going to up my charge another 5 grains ( I told ya they was lite) and see if that helps or I'll go to .454 then maybe .457's

All in All I was just looking for the cheapest price.

I buy my 451's from Gander Mountain (the "house" brand") ... they run about $5 for a box of 100.  Last time I went, they were moving the store, and I got 5 boxes discounted to $2.50 per box.  I don't really care for the 451's, as 454's and 457's are more accurate, but I can't turn up my nose at $2.50 - $5 a box.  I usually use the 451's for paper cartridges anyway, so I'm all set for a while there.
