I rebarreled a Sharps repro last year and I was loading swiss 1 1/2 95 grains in starline 50/90 brass. I need to buy more powder and I heard from someone that I should be using 1f instead, I'm shooting 650 grain Paul Jones bullet I only got sight settings out to 300 yds but it shoots under 2moa. I also have a 45/90 that I use 1 1/2f in. Do you think it would be beneficial to get some 1f for the big 50

The bore size doesn't demand Fg, but if your gun shoots well with it, it's the right powder.  Were it mine, I'd look into some FFg Schuetzen.  If you're going for 1000 yards it becomes more fussy, but at 300 yards you're not going to see a lot of difference.

Shooting those big bore guns is a hoot.  After a while, big bore shooters get to thinkn'. . . . "Hey, this thing could kill something!!!"  That's when you see 'em heading for the woods and plains.  The big singles are returning to their original mission, a little at a time.

It's all about fun.
