Arming & Equipping the United States Cavalry, 1865-1902, anyone seen this book?

I saw this the other day online but I haven't seen it in person yet. http://www.amazon.com/Arming-Equipping-United-States-Cavalry-1865-1902-Farrington/dp/1931464138 I'm pretty tough to please when it comes to reference books but this looks like it might be good. Anyone here have a copy of this already? A current ebay listing (#230215977806) has photos of the interior pages, and what I see looks pretty good.

I have seen this book before, came across it while doing reserach on Volunteer Cavalry during the Spanish American War. I would love to get my hands on a copy.

The book "Arming & Equipping the United States Cavalry, 1865-1902" is an outstanding source book. It follows the induction of all modifications of all arms and equipment of the Indian wars period. It also shows what equipment went to what units from Quartermasters records. You'll enjoy and find it hard to put down.

The Book is also availiable from "Trapdoors Galore", I got mine there last year.

Another great sourse set (2 Volume set) is "Uniforms, Arms, and Equipment" by Douglas C. McChristian it deals with the Army of the Western Frontier 1880-1892. Vol.1 deals with Headgear, Clothing and Footwear- Vol 2 deals with Weapons and Accouterments.

I hope this helps and is what your looking for.

Thanks for the comments, gentlemen! I've been seriously eyeing it on eBay, which is the cheapest place I've found it so far and it looks like a good reference book on the subject. Goodness knows I don't want to get too far in into this time period (I have dozens of reference books on WW2, my primary interest), but I would like to know the right stuff when I see it and there seems to be a huge lack of good reference books for gear with details like this.

I found one on epay for $65 including postage, so I got that one, sent the check out today...

I looked it up on allbookstores.com and found a review that reads in part, "There are pages in the book and it was published by Univ of Oklahoma Pr." I sure hope so, I'd sure hate to buy just the cover.

I got my copy on Friday and haven't had much time to really dive into it. There's a lot of first person reports from the field about most items, and that's something missing from most books of this type. I'm pretty impressed with what I've seen so far. It could have used a few more pictures and frankly, I couldn't care less about charts of each issue item, broken down to each cavalry post in the US (there are a LOT of pages devoted to that), but all in all I consider it money very well spent.
