Interesting gun. I wonder why the hammer tip (rear sight) has been ground completely off? The front sight is about gone too. I've fround the hammer down on guns that shot high or added to the front sight but never removing metal from both ends.

Just looked at that pistol again yesterday!
It has been for sale for a bit................
Looks like breatheren to mine, probably the same lot and/or armoury.

My front sight is even ground the same way, Musta been to zero with cartridges
By the way the rear sight is not on the hammer on Army Remingtons

Hey Hoof Hearted,
You are completely right. I was surfing that website and saw an 1860 Army that was for sale with no rear sight and forgot all about the original topic being a Remington. I've got 6 of 'em and you are correcto mundo. I was staring & squinting at every detail of the Colt and got sidetracked.  Maybe I'm starting to lose it. Got "C&B on the brain".

44 Rem, 44 CF, 44DS, who knows (oh yea, well he told me he wouldn't trespass anymore) Except for the Armory.............
Mine is 44 big enough for anything 44

Fact is the "Armory" conversions were not as well documented and probably were "made to order" so depending on who.....where.....when......well I think you get the point
