Howdy all.
I have a pair of Cimarron opentops. I wanted to do something to the front sights.
I believe the blade is silver soldered in. Is this correct. ?
Is the sight soldered into a round hole or is it a rectangular. ?
Any directions for removing it would be helpful .
  Thanks

One (2002 production) of mine is press-fit into a rectangular hole, the other (2007 production) press-fit plus glued, also into a rectangular hole.
You may want to pull them like a tooth.

Howdy Sweettooth,
Bronco Birnbaum used silver coins to make sights for his opentops.  You might ask him about that.

Thanks gentlemen.
A silver coin or a brass pin like on the R/M barrels are what I had in mind.

Thanks gentlemen. A silver coin or a brass post from a RM is what I had in mind.

To use a brass post seems like you'd have to fill in the rectangular slot with something then drill a hole for the post (or cut off the front inch of the barrel and recrown - I know a guy near Lockhart who could do that).  Coin probably easier.  Look forward wo seeing it.  Have fun!
