Looks like what I started:

Since then I finished the rammer (rounded back close to the web), recontoured the hammer and forged it up. Still need to do the German silver cone sight. I am contemplating welding up the frame notch, which would be the last thing, but I'm not sure I wanna go that far. I think I'll leave it a "transitional". ;)

Thanks for the additional pics.

I have seen photos of two or three different "styles" of Beals rammers. I would venture to say that they were not all the same in the length of the web and the "square" portion of the rammer. I guess things became a bit more standardized with the advent of  Remington's purchase of the Beals design.

Howdy!

A turned up hammer spur for easier fanning makes sense.

Did'ja ever try to fan an old (repro) sixgun?  Boy, the few times I've 'experimented" it liked ta ate my hand up!  Granted - my hammers are all stock, but wow!   :P

That's because you have "dishpan" hands, Bailey!  :D ;)

Steel Horse Bailey

Yes!

I'll be "publishing" a photo for you.

Got it in Monday's late afternoon mail.  Thanks again!

I have seen others with that same hammer.............
I'm not sure I'd go "reshaping" on it ???

I'll look through my pics, but I think it was made that way. If you look at the other guns of the same time frame, they all had "high" trigger spurs. It's just like the rammer rod, I think they changed as time went on and the input from the end user might have influenced how high the spur was made.

A nice one!   ;)

I stop in that store from time to time, they are proud of what they have (and they have a lot). I guess everyone needs to make a living :P

Did you notice that the rammer on that pistol is not completely round in front of the area where it becomes square? That's what I meant by "they seem to differ".

If your hammer appears to have been bent up then go to town, although if you do any sanding or filing it will be evident. Might want to try a lead hammer on a lead block. This manner works well on older iron and soft steel (but on newer cased parts they break easily).

That Beals appears to have a replacement cylinder pin and rammer screw :'(

I will look through some books............short of searching the internet (I'm sure you have already done that), I don't know where else to look. Give me a day or two ;)

Barbarosa,

Here's a guy down in Georgia who makes relacement parts for antique guns, and has listed Rem Beals parts....lists Beals "cylinder lock" for $45.00.

http://www.partsforantiqueguns.com/remreparts.html

Also, S and S Firearms in Glendale NY offers parts for the Remington Beals....
it's a PDF document...scroll down almost to the bottom.

They might be worth checking out to at least find out if they could send a scan or pic to you. I know S&S Firearms are good people to deal with, ..I've bought from them....... Ask for Phil.   ;)

Oldelm

Good luck with gettin that Beals back up & runnin...... :)

Did you get the bolt/cylinder stop thing figured out?

I couldn't find diagrams in my collection for the Beals innards :-\

Hummph ???

I guess the cylinder pin would be your latch/release :P
Headspace issues would be my concern.

I can tell you right now that the bolt stop is closer to the breech (shorter from the screw to the bolt stop) on the repro Pietta by enough that it won't work in my NMA conversion. I compared one today while modifying a hand to work in the Conversion I got from Charlie (it would not rotate the cylinder far enough unless you jerked the hammer back). Try Uberti  :-\

I finished (never really done, work in progress) the rammer and recotoured the hammer again on my "Beals" look alike - Kirst 44 Conversion. Wanna see some pics?
