Hello the fire!
I'm really interested in the NWMP carbine, but I'd like to have it in .45-60, like the one Tom Selleck used in "Crossfire Trail."  What is the difference betweeen .45-60 and .45-75?  How difficult would it be to convert one to .45-60?  Do any of the manufacturers plan to make a carbine in this caliber?

Morning, 1st Sgt.Here is a pic that will give you some insight into the differences between the two..

Left to right:  45-75, 45-60, and 40-60.  The 45-75 is a distinctive bottle necked round.  To convert from 45-75 to 45-60 would require a rebarrel.

Seems that I read somewhere that Chaparral had produced a few 45-60 carbines, but it is not listed on their web site.  I think I would wait and see what both Chaparral and Uberti do.  I would not be surprised to see one from either.

Thanks Griz.  I knew that the .45-75 was a bottleneck, and I kinda figured that a rebarrel would be in order.  I guess the concern is, are the magazine and receiver the same size for both calibers?  Woud any changes need to be made in the action, like changing the cartridge lifter?  Chaparral shows the NWMP in .45-75, but no other calibers.  Does Uberti plan to make a carbine, and if so, will it be in .45-60?

Hi, 1st Sgt.

No other change would be required.  The magazine tube, carrier and receiver are the same on both.  The "problem" would be the lack of any 45-60 round 22 inch barrels.  Of course, Badger Barrel can certainly build you one!! ;)

Hi Fritz,
I´ve ordered such a carbine in 45-60 win. The German distributor told me, the change in caliber is no problem and I will get it in, say, 4 weeks. Price is the same as the .45-75 win. If you are interested, I will let you know when I receive it.
Greetings
