Hello, I am new to this forum. Would anyone be able to give me any information, good or bad about this rifle? I am thinking of purchasing one from Tri Star.

MONGO-AZ

I've got one and have had no problems with it. No, it's not a $2000 custom made job, but it shoot plenty accurate out to 300-400 yrds, and suits me just fine. The safety on the top of the firing pin assembly is annoying - I'd recommended removeing it. Check the BROW forum - there's been a fair amount of discussion about it.

Thank you Mongo. I have mine on order.

I have an IAB the thing is more accurate than I am. But alas the problem I have had is a soft tumbler fly. Caused the sear to break, EMF handled the problem in a timely manner. Good show EMF!!

There are other posting on this website that speak less favorably about IAB.  You should view them before ordering.

Good Morning:

I have one of the IAB's, and I have Perdersoli Creedmore Sights on it.  I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn at 8 paces with it.  I am very disappointed in it.  And there is no rhyme or reason to where any of the bullets go...  They just go, and scatter about like my shotgun.

Now, I like to think I am a pretty good shot...  Of hand with my '73 I am right on, and with a high powered rifle out to 250 yards I rarely miss.  So, either me, and everyone that has shot this rifle (including my gunsmith) are not as good a shots as we thought or this gun shoots awry...  My vote is for the latter.  I'd caution against buying one with out shooting it first....  :(

Has your gunsmith checked the crown on the muzzle of the bbl.?  A nick on the muzzle to the rifling can cause that problem.  Worth checking it out!

Highlander, bullet weight and diameter could have played a part in your poor results. I had an IAB and it didn't like anything under 500 grains, 62 grains of BP and specific compression. I won a regional long range match with it shooting 530 grain bullets over 2FF Elephant using Shaver Soule sites and scored 8 for 10 at 675 yards. I had another IAB carbine that was a plate ringer at 200 yards also, it did have the soft parts issue noted above though.

Olk we have spent hard money for these rifles. Mine is accurate, but had soft parts.  I have contacted Mauro Pedertti about the problems I had and He passed me off. Thatis bad busniess in my book. EMF stood behind the product event though they no longer carried this product. In years past I had problems with US major manufacters, but I did get better response from the makers. My rifle looks very good , had soft parts, shoots great, But EMF backed the rifle . but not the maker.
