Anybody out there have this setup? Concern is whether or not the bolt hits it?

I just ordered base # 991001 with a standard staff and screw set # 995034. They said it might not work.....I ordered it anyway. I'll let you know what happens.

Can't wait for your report on the sight . I have a marbles pep on my Marlin 1895 . Haven't shot it in a while .   maybe 7 or 8 years ? Don't time fly by .

I've studied the gun, pictures of the sight and all the information here and can't see any reason why it should not work. I'll probably have it in hand Sat. or Monday......putting a peep on this gun can't be that tough.......

How about a picture . I'm thinking about one for my rifle , but would like to have a glance at one on a rifle .

Rowdy,
Here is a picture of a 1873 Winchester/Uberti and a 1876 Winchester/Uberti both with the Marble's tang sight for the 1873. There is plenty of clearance (1/2 inch) from the rear of the bolt on the 1876 to knereled part of the sight. The sight on the 1876 has a longer staff (probably a mid-range) that use to be available from Marble's. I don't remember the numbers but the sight is the original version not the new improved sight.

Thank you for the picture , I love that Deluxe model . Both sights look great .

Just today got in the standard Marbles as listed for original '76 and '86 and the fit is perfect, with the hammer not coming anywhere near the staff. Only issue is how to keep the sight from marring the comb of the stock when in folded down position. Not a biggie, just want to do it in at least a reasonably decent/authentic way.

Roosterman

The "new improved" model folds nicely with out touching the comb when the standard staff is used. I'm sure the mid and long range staffs would be a problem in this area.

I apologize, not trying to hijack this thread. Are you guys changing the front sight when you install the Marbles tang sights.

Thanks

I did, went with a globe so I could use apertures.

Rafe,

On one rifle I eplaced the front with a globe.  On my new rifle I'm using the front sight that came with the rifle.

Just a quick update on my comment about the staff hitting the comb.

I built it a little buckskin sock with draw strings, works fine, looks good too.

Cheers.

I hope all of you who have installed Marbles Tang Sights have better luck with them than I did... I went thru 3 different Marbles Tang Sights... they all WOBBLED when indexed... I gave up on Marbles.

Snapshot

I mounted a "beach" flip up front sight. A combined post and bead.
I have just tuned my Chappy 45-60 and mounted the front sight, waiting for the mid range improved Marple tang sight.
I first bought the standard, but it is to short for the beach front sight.
