I have recently added a pair of Uberti Russians in 44 Russian caliber to my private arsenol and am curious about a rifle in the same caliber or that can use it. I have found the Spencer in 44 Russian but am curious if any other makes are available. All help appreciated. Thanks pards,

If you have a model 1873 or 1866 in 44 Special caliber you can get a new carrier from the Smith Shop that will work with the 44 Russian cartridge.

I have an Uberti 1873 saddle ring carbine in 44 Special and the carrier works just fine.  No major modifications to the rifle are required and you can switch back to 44 Special by just replacing the original carrier.

Info and photos are on the Smith Shop web site, www.thesmithshop.com.

i found a henry 1860 rifle that was 44spl. had the carrier changed out with a smith carrier, now can shoot 44 russian out of my rifle and russian #3's. also can shoot them in my open tops and 1860 conversions. i really like the 44 russian round. they work very good with black powder.kurt250

I have to agree with kurt250!  I got a 44 WCF Henry re-chambered to 44 Russian and shot it for the first time today.  I had a blast!! ;D  :o  ;D  Shot my 44 Colt Open Top with 44 Russians too.  It shot well "out of the box"!!  Shooting 20 gr. of 2F with a 200 gr. Big Lube bullet!  Boom!  Clang!  SMOKE!! ;D  ;D  I'm one happy camper!! ;D :D ;D
