Which 45 mold do you have? Is it new or used?

I kinda figgered you'd ask first!

The box is marked 454 RF on end and "45 BIG LUBE" on top.
It is still brand new.............

Looking for a 38-40 Big Lube mould in trade.

Thanks!

It sounds like you have either a PRS or J/P.  The PRS drops 250 grain bullets.  The J/P drops 200 grain bullets.  I'm getting low on both of these and would be willing to do a swap for actual shipping costs only.  I will post as soon as the 38-40s arrive.

I'm assuming you have standard LEE Six cavity mold blocks.

I'm currently waiting on an order for DD-38-40s, DD-45-70 390 RNFP and 44cal Mav Dutchman molds.  LEE is s-l-o-w now.  They had been working on custom orders placed last May last time I spoke to them.  My order will be coming up soon.

In the box there is an invoice from LEE. It says 90040 6 CAV BULLET MOLD 454-RF.

What the heck is RF? Is this an abbreviation for the abbreviation RNFP?

Really don't want to cast with this new mould 'cause then it won't be new to sell!

Thanks!

I checked my LEE catalog and the LEE web site.  The number, 90040, isn't there.  I'm thinkn' that either the part number changed or you may have an out dated product.  Do this please.  Take a clean piece of paper and place it over one of the mold block halves and do a gentle pencil rubbing.  That will show the bullet profile.  If you can scan or photograph that rubbing I may be able to tell what your mold is.

Also, if you can, please copy any of the labels and post them.  I'd like to help you get to the bottom of this.  I'm thinkn' you may have a mold from a special run, but probably not one I  originally sold.

Dick these were bought from LEE, very early on. If I remember correctly from the SASS wire it was a "group buy" before that term was coined. HEY, you might outta get credit for that :D

It is probably the 250 grainer as I am not a "gamer" and would have bought it (I bought 2 each of the 44 and 45) to reload BP in my old Colts.

That sure sounds like a PRS 45Cal 250 grain mold from your description.  Leave this thread run and you may find a 38-40 Big Lube™ mold before I  get my order.  If that's the case, go for it.  If not I'll still do a swap.  My only condition would be that it were a PRS mold.

I'll watch this thread.
