Ok I'm stupid. But what the hell am I doing wrong? I just got a Stoeger Uplander Supreme 20ga. I put it together when I got home, looked at it, played with it, put it away. I haven't had time to shoot it. This week I take it out to show my son, I can't assemble the damn thing! Yes it's the first shotgun I've owned. I put the barrel on the stock, the forearm won't go on. There are 2 metal pivots ( not the firing pins) which are obviously stopping everything from assembling, but if I flip them up, the barrel won't fit on the stock anymore. If I flip them down, I can't get the forearm on. I didn't think I was that stupid........but I guess I am.

did you pull the triggers while it was disassembaled?  If so you have to reset them.  the 2 metal pivots are the cockers

Aha...I think you're right. How Do I reset them?

Marshal Will Wingam

As I recall from my Uplander, you flip them up, one at a time is easier, and put them against a workbench edge or a block of wood clamped in a vice and push. When you hear a click, it's cocked. Then do the other one. It assembles nicely after that.

+0:05 OK, I just checked, you put them down and push. Remember, those get pushed down by the underside of the barrel assembly when you open the action. You are duplicating that motion.

Ok so I put them down and push...at 90 degrees to the parallel of the barrel or straight back? I don't want to bend something by mistake. thanks in advance.

Stock in hand, 90 degrees to body, cocking levers against the wood, slightly lift and push.
I had to do it last night when I cleaned my Stoeger.
