I'm in the process of collecting the guns needed for CAS. The only one left is the shotgun. This is one of my options; anyone have experience/knowledge with one?

Cimarron 1878 coachgun working hammers, 3" chamber, cylinder bore, walnut stock and blue finish...$356 plus tax

Thanks.

It sounds like the same SXS first imported by TTN International,
Walt Johnson, and now also by EMF.
I've had a TTn a couple of years now, great gun.
Strong and well finished, I've had no problems with mine. If I do, Walt Johnson offers fine customer service.

Mine worked and shucked shells slickly right out of the box ( the provided lighter springs & large front bead sight were installed NIB )
Of a particular intereating note, the hammers are place close enough ,so one can thumbed them together in one motion.

If the Cimarron SXS your looking at is the same gun... $ 356 is a bargain

Cimarron and Taylors are both carrying the gun carried by TTN.  Good gun...  get it.

I just picked one up at Walker 47 , at there E.M.F. dings & dents sale, the reg. price is $ 475.00 , I paid $375.oo for mine , but after looking at it , I would have paid the extra price for it ,it is built like a tank , and like the other pards have said you can cock both hammers with one thumb at the same time , the stock is walnut, its just a real good looking gun , like everyone else has said T.T.N. is Walter Johnsons baby , so if anything goes wrong, hes there to take care of it for you . I was in the same place you're in not to long ago, and I listen to my Pards , and Deadeye Don pushed me over the line to T.T.N. and I'm glad he did, Thanks again Deadeye, $356.00 is a dang good price :D ;D

                                                Happy Gunning  ;D

FYI ... and no dog in the hunt....

The TTn comes with lighter hammer springs installed.. and the original OEM springs are also provided free.
there is a large bead sight also..
I don't know if this is the case with the Cimarron version... but at the price you quoted your doing fine.

At the Local FFL they are selling of the shelf a $518 + tax... I paid just about $400 for mine in Sept. 05
I asked Walt to choose mine with a nice Figure in the black walnut , he did not disappoint me.

Picked up the Shotgun Friday and you guys were correct; it's a TTN. I don't deal a lot with shotguns but this one seems well put together. I took it out behind the barn to scare a few squirrels and it works fine. I could even drop the spent shells out like I've seen you CAS shooters do...  $386.00 with tax.

Thanks,
Gary

Good on you, I paid ( well traded ) equivalent to about $400 as I said, so you did great...
Ok there is one bug a boo ... see those little artistic spurs in front of the thumb levers ? they be sharp ! you might want to blunt them off a tad... some racers have scuffed a thumb  :-X

Major 2 is right about the artistic spurs, left on they could cut cut your thumb up pretty good if you were to hurry getting the hammers back.. I used a Dremel tool with a grinding stone, and then sanding drum and then a little hand sanding with emery cloth, then I used the Dremel with the small felt polishing wheel, and some high gloss polishing compond, then degrease it and then you can cold blue the hammers, they came out real nice this way , and you don't feel a thing coming across the front of the hammer .
Enjoy your new gun ;) :D

good "how to"  TWF  :)

I actually have not done mine because I can't break the habbit to palm mine back
It's like imbeded in there ::), I lever with my thumb, break it down,  flick the empties , palm back the hammers in the same motion going for two shells , slap shut,  and boom boom ,  repeat as needed.

Howdy Magor 2  :)

Boy Pard you must have some callust palms to not get cut up by those spikes, :o but I know how it is, sometimes its just too hard to change, after doing something the same way for years don't ya know, you could still take them off for a little insurance against getting your hand bloodied.  ???

Have a great whats left of it weekend Major 2   :D ;D
