Hey, the wait has been long, but the Snakebite and Mav Dutchman molds are back in stock now.  I just delivered a bunch of 'em.  Got more to send.

LEE is now promising deliver in SIX MONTHS for new orders.  That's after sittin' on my money for that long interest free.  Heck of a deal. >:(

I'm exploring for a new mold maker.

Good, I love mine.

Any chance you could get 6 cavity round ball moulds made up?  I talked with Lee awhile back and they said they couldn't do it? ???

I know you've got the small bullet that suposed to take the place of a round ball, but I realy like my round balls, .454 and .380, and Lee's tangent sprue cut off,  just hate casting 2 at a time.

LEE lathe bores their molds.  This process doesn't lend it's self to making round ball cavities very well.  They have to  drill a pilot hole before the tool can enter.  When they do this it's hard to get the ball to come out absolutely spherical.  So, LEE simply doesn't make six cavity round ball molds.  But, they do make them in two cavity models.  I know cuz I have one.  You go figure.

Well shoot, I though they used a cherry, not a boreing bar.  I've seen a couple other companies make 4 cavity round ball moulds but not with the tangent sprue cutoff lee has.  Oh well. :(

If you could get a cherry for the round balls made you could make the molds.  LEE will sell blank mold blocks.

Now that's a though, might need to get three or four extra blanks though, no telling how many I'd screw up!

"Em bullets do pile up fast Cuts.  I like the fact that once I've got a mold runnin' good I don't have to do anything special except keep it dry when I put it away.  A good running mold seems to start out good from the start at the next casting session.

Don't rush it, we have all winter to load 'em up now.  Reloading season is upon us.

I don't know much about bullet molds, but a bit about machining. Wonder why they don't employ sinker EDMs for the cavities? More time consuming, but can run un-attended and would produce more accurate spheres with better finishes. Or maybe even mill them with a ballmill. On an accurate, high speed machining center, wouldn't take much time at all and could produce finishes rivaling those of the lathe.

I think LEE is pretty much set on their way of doing stuff and they aren't interested in making any changes.  Probably their system allows for the use of less skilled labor or some other bean counter kind of thing.

Yes, there would be other fine ways of making the cavities.  There are a lot of mold makers that don't lathe bore.  I'm exploring other makers now.
